Watchmen - Thoughts

Eric and I attended a press screening for Watchmen last night at the AMC theater in downtown Toronto. The place was packed and they had a surprise guest for us. Silk Spectre II played by Malin Akerman. So it was a surprise to see her there to introduce the film. I had read the graphic novel and really liked it. Eric had not read it and was going in, with no idea what the story was about. After the movie on the way home it was interesting to see what both of us thought of the film. I really liked it and thought it was a great adaptaion of the novel. Eric liked the film but wasn't sure if he cared for the story. I do think that you should read the graphic novel first before seeing the film, because it will give you a better understanding of what's going on. The action was great and I thought the the actor who played Rorschach was fantastic. But one thing I wonder about is did we really need to see Dr Manhattans junk the whole film? I understand they were going for a faithful representation, but I don't see how that helps the story or anything. Either way I thouhgt it was a fantastic film. Go buy the novel read it, and if you like it, go out and see Watchmen on 03.06.09
