ESET malware researchers collected about 172 rogue or dangerous applications that were detected in September. Malicious categories include applications that are infected by adware, subscription fraud, hidden advertisements, premium SMS subscriptions, and more.
Quoted by Ubergizmo, Wednesday (10/2/2019), it is fortunate that most of the applications that are considered dangerous have been removed. However, there is no guarantee that all Android users will not be affected.
Caution of Malicious Application
If you look at the data that is summarized by ESET, the malicious application has 335 installs in total out of 172 applications. The most number of installs are applications that contain adware with 48 applications and install more than 300,600,000.
Second place is the Subscription Scam application. From the data published by Ubergizmo, there are 15 applications that contain a subscription scam with a total installation of more than 20,000,000.
While in third place is the Hidden Ads application. There are at least 57 applications in the Play Store that contain Hidden Ads and have a total installation of more than 14,550,000.
Google might want to think about reducing the number of apps or implementing strict review guidelines to approve apps on the Play Store. With this step, users can stop worrying about the applications they have on their device.
