WhatsApp is reportedly developing new features.
One feature is called will make WhatsApp similar to Apple’s messaging app, iMessage.
The similarities are in the use of the apps that are more flexible on all of the devices. This means, one of the WhatsApp accounts will be able to be used on a few devices, both from a different phone or desktop, at the same time.
The WhatsApp users will be able to use smartphones and WhatsApp Web all at once. However, to use the WhatsApp Web, the PC must be connected to an internet-connected phone first.
Thus, using WhatsApp on a few different devices such as desktops, laptops, and phones will be easier. It is because you don’t need to re-connect to your phone when you switch the devices.
Yet, because it is still limited on the rumors, as quoted by KompasTekno from The Next Web, Monday (07/29/2019), it is not clear how the feature will work later.
Please note that there are security reasons behind having to connect a phone to the desktop when using WhatsApp Web. All messages are bound to the user’s phone number and are only stored locally on the mobile, not on the WhatsApp server.
So, WhatsApp Web needs to take the messages via phone. This mechanism might need to be changed if you want to apply the features above.
