Following the Pokemon Sleep and Pokemon Home, a new game about Detective Pikachu was also announced on the Pokemon Press Conference 2019 which was held a few days ago. The game will be launched on the Nintendo Switch console and will follow the storyline of its first original game, The Adventure of Detective Pikachu, which was first launched on Nintendo 3DS.
Tsunekazu Ishihara, the president and CEO of the Pokémon Company seemed to be intentionally keeping the details scarce for now, as the original 2016 game ended on a bit of a cliff-hanger, so it is still entirely speculation whether the sequel resolves its predecessor’s ending or expanding the Pokemon Detective storyline.
The Detective Pikachu game is rumored to have a different ending to the film, and will take a different story line between the two. Detective Pikachu itself is a game that tells about the adventures of Tim Goodman and the funny actions of his pokemon assistant Pikachu, as they solve various mysteries, including the mystery of Tim’s father’s disappearance.
The Detective Pikachu game sequel is still under development. If you are interested in the Detective Pikachu sequel game, we recommend checking the previous game, Detective Pikachu 3DS, so you don’t miss the plot as a whole.
What about Detective Pikachu Sequel for The Movie?
Not to worry, the movie itself will also receive a sequel. Legendary Pictures had announced on January 25 that it had hired Oren Uziel – who’s recently worked on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and Men in Black: International – to write Detective Pikachu sequel plot.
Offical cast list isn’t here yet, but we can assume that the iconic duo, Justice Smith will be back as Tim Goodman and Ryan Reynolds will be back again to voice Pikachu.
