DJI is a Chinese technology company based in Shenzhen, with manufacturing facilities throughout the world. DJI is well known as manufacturer of drones (for aerial photography and videography).
DJI also design and manufacture camera gimbals, flight platforms, cameras, propulsion systems, camera stabilisers, and flight control systems. At last, the Chinese drone manufacturer intends to expand its products in the action camera industry.
According to the tweet by OsitaLV, DJI is reportedly developing its own action camera, just like GoPro. Unfortunately for now, information related to DJI’s camera action is still tightly kept under wrap.
The DJI camera action seems to be based on a Pocket Osmo that launched last year with an added ultrawide lens and other functionality.
DJI Action Camera: Based off Osmo Pocket?
Osmo Pocket is basically a fixed camera with gimbal. DJI has made several gimbals in the past that require users to install their own camera or smartphone.
Unlike the gimbal that DJI made in the past, Osmo Pocket comes with a fairly small sized built-in camera for extra portability.
Putting Osmo Pocket technology and putting it in an action camera body doesn’t seem entirely impossible. As reported from Ubergizmo, Thursday (1/5/2019).
Action cameras are usually used to record outdoor activities. In the current action camera industry, the GoPro brand is no stranger because this action camera manufacturer has made many products.
GoPro has spawned several action cameras such as the GoPro Hero 7 Black, Hero 6 Black, Hero 5 Session, and many more.
