Apple Designer: Jony Ive
Apple has been relying on Jonathan Ive to design many of its iconic products which are most successful on the market. Now with the Jony Ive leave, does it mean that Apple products in the future are no longer have a good design?
Concern clearly surfaced. The proof, Apple’s stock price was cut by around USD 8 billion after Ive announced it would leave the company.
Ive, who has worked for Apple for 30 years, was Steve Jobs’s right hand in the past. Apple’s CEO now, Tim Cook, also relies on him.
Naturally, from the cold hand, out of the design of the iMac, iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Apple’s headquarters which he designed with architect Norman Foster. Cook acknowledged Ive’s role in the rise of Apple was undeniable.

However, it does not mean that Apple can no longer design the iPhone or Mac properly after Ive left. It may be that there will be a refreshing reminder, the iPhone design has hardly changed. And whether or not there is an effect, iPhone sales have declined.
“The big question is, in the future, it’s about the next product innovation when one of the visionaries of the Apple brand is gone,” said Dan Ives, analyst at Wedbush Securities.
I’ve probably left a trail of his latest designs on the latest iPhone that came out this year. After that, he acted more as an Apple consultant through the design company he founded, LoveFrom.
Although regretted, Ive’s departure was welcomed by some parties. Because in its history, Ive had several blunders, for example antennagate on the iPhone 4 or butterfly keyboard mechanism on the Mac that has problems. It could be that the design of Apple gadgets is even better as he leaves.
