iPhone 12 Camera will Use ToF Tech
The news of the emergence of Apple’s latest cellphone, the iPhone 12 will be released in 2020. Altough recently, there are a lot of leaks wandering widely on the internet. In fact, this latest Apple smartphone product will carry 5G technology and a time of flight (ToF) camera.
The leaked iPhone 12 product is revealed by the famous analysis, Ming-Chi Kuo. Through MacRumors, Kuo said that the latest iPhone model in 2020 uses ToF technology that combines camera sensors that can determine how far away objects are in the space.
“We predict that the latest iPhone 2020 models, all iPhone will be equipped with FaceID on the front and provide a ToF on the back. They will also be equipped with VCSEL (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) on the front and back,” Kuo said as quoted by BGR, on Tuesday (7/30/2019).
How Does ToF and VCSEL Impact the Camera?
ToF is the latest camera technology that is expected to become the new trend. ToF can improve the quality of the camera using infrared light like VCSEL that was mentioned earlier. This beam is used to determine the depth of objects in a space.
With this technology, the iPhone in the future will have improvements in 3D mapping, photo quality, and improved Augmented Reality (AR) functions.
Kuo also mentioned that the latest Apple iPhone model carries a 5.4 inch and 6.7 inch screen. Other entry-level devices are said to have a 6.1-inch screen similar to the current iPhone XR.
