Xiaomi introduced a feature called Mimoji that is similar to Memoji Apple. Ironically, Xiaomi accidentally used one of Apple’s ads.
Weibo users found Xiaomi mistakenly embed Apple ads on the company’s product pages for the Mi CC9 handset on two e-commerce sites, JD.com and Suning. The Mi CC9 has the default Mimoji feature.
On both e-commerce sites, there are Apple Music Memoji advertisements featuring Khalid musicians in the form of AR. Upscale content uploaded by Xiaomi is justified by PR General Manager Xu Jieyun.
According to Jieyun, Xiaomi’s staff uploaded the wrong content. Xiaomi then deleted any material sourced from Apple on both e-commerce platforms, as quoted from Phone Arena on Saturday (07/06/2019).
Mimoji and Memoji are 3D avatars
Users can customize to make them look fun or different from themselves. Xiaomi’s 3D Avatar has several similarities to Memoji Apple.
Xiaomi has made the names of 3D avatars similar to American tech giants. The Chinese giant has also launched an Apple Animoji equivalent to the Mi 8 released in 2018.
Earlier in 2019, Xiaomi also released a device that appeared to function like AirPods. Xiaomi calls similar devices AirPods with the name Airdots.
