Hogwarts Portrait must’ve been familiar to Potterheads – fans of Harry Potter universe; it is the byproduct of wizardry where the pictures in the paper and other paper mediums can move and talk just like a short video.
Even though it is an imaginative technology, it will be realized soon through Google Lens. Google has provided a series of feature updates on this application by using Augmented Reality technology.
AR, not Just for Interactive Children Books
Google Lens itself is a tool based on artificial intelligence (AI) computer vision that is able to analyze photos, recognize objects in it, and retrieve information from objects that are targeted by the user.
According to Google’s representative, Apparna Chennapragada, Tuesday (05/07/2019) in the Google I / O 2019 event which took place in USA, the biggest update Google has released for this application is support for usage in restaurants. Users will simply have to direct the lens to the menu and Google Lens will automatically show the most popular dishes available in the restaurant, complete with short video and overview.
In addition, through a culinary magazine called “Bon Appetit”, Google Lens also helps users to see how to cook a menu of dishes. The user simply aim the camera on the menu in the magazine and automatically, the image highlighted by the camera will appear to move demonstrating how to cook the menu, similar to the scene in the Harry Potter movie.
According to Apparna, this feature will soon be released for the Google Lens application at least on late May. In addition, he also said that the Google Lens function to read and translate text in realtime was also updated.
On the same occasion, the CEO of Google, Sundari Pichai also confirmed that basically, Google will continue to notify users on the various applicable Augmented Reality technology to introduce and familiarize the users of Google’s applications.
In addition, Google Lens will also continue to be optimized so that its functions will become more diverse. One of the newest functions of Google Lens is the ability to read text only by using camera highlights and can translate it into more than 70 different languages throughout the world.
