OnePlus is reported to be launching three mobile phones later on this year, namely OnePlus 7 and its variants. But, foldable smartphones won’t be among them.
According to OnePlus, foldable phone is not ready for mainstream success and not only because of the price. As quoted from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, “They (foldable phone) did not do something fundamentally different from modern mobile phones.”.
OnePlus: Broadening to Other Fields
OnePlus is currently making a TV or smart display. Lau sees the remote control as an outdated technology as nowadays modern AI can learn your habits and store information that is relevant to you. Such as your favorite channel, TV Show, etc.
Besides TV, OnePlus also wants to enter the automotive business, particularly on automotive technology. Lau hints at the capability of what 5G can do such as implementing a virtual assistant on to automotive.
Among the projects planned by OnePlus, TV is the most advanced in development so far. But, it is still too early to question when OnePlus TV will be launched.
As reported by GSM Arena on Saturday (04/13/2019), gadgets in cars and office products will be developed over the next few years.
