OnePlus TV will be launched on September 26, 2019. Anticipating the launch date, OnePlus has shared various teasers about the features used on their smart TVs.
As quoted from NDTV, Thursday (9/19/2019), the latest teaser shared by OnePlus is features related to the OnePlus TV software, including the integration of smartphones and text input on TV using smartphones.
Oneplus TV Integrated into Smartphones for Ease of Use
The first teaser uploaded by CEO Pete Lau on Twitter shows the TV remote and smartphone on the other side. Not much is displayed on the cellphone screen, but the text from the tweet says, ‘fast, smooth, seamless control through your smartphone.’
Lau Tweet shows OnePlus may have designed its own application to use with the Smart TV. That way, users can control several functions on the TV via a smartphone rather than the remote.
Of course the remote can be used for basic functions, but applications can help in browsing and selecting content quickly, as well as changing certain settings. Other features related to smartphone integration are hinted at in the next tweet.
The next tweet shows a simplified form of text input on OnePlus TV. The teaser seems to show the ability to use smartphones to type text on TV, which is admittedly far easier and faster than using the arrows and ok button on the conventional remote.
TV on the Android TV platform from various manufacturers has the same integration for smartphones and text input. But, OnePlus hopes to improve it with its own implementation.
Various other features regarding OnePlus TV have been leaked, including the fact the device will have a 55-inch QLED screen and run on the Android TV platform with its own adjustments on it.
