USA telecommunication company AT&T has determined the rate for 5G network applications. Randall Stephenson as the CEO of AT&T reveals how AT&T constructs its price structure in providing 5G network service in the future.
“I will be surprised when we switch to wireless, price determination in wireless is not the same to the one you see in your house telephone bill,” stated Stephenson, as quoted from GSMArena, on Thursday, April 25th, 2019.
The 5G Billing and Cost Planning
According to Stephenson, AT&T hopes to charge its premium user if they want to take advantage of Gigabyte full speed service through the wireless networks. The charge will be based on the internet speed chosen by the user.
It means that the faster the speed used by the user, the higher the price is. This wireless 5G service will not only shake the wireless service industry but also giving reasons for the internet providers to do price adjustment in accordance with this latest data speed.
“If you offer speed, some users are willing to pay premium expenses simply for faster 500 Megabytes, and so forth. Therefore, I am hoping it will be that way. We will be on the speed providing competition in two or three more years,” said Stephenson.
This technology can lead to a very different approach to price determination. Stephen is fully acknowledged on the fact that the expenses of launching 5G on the national scale will be quite expensive.
Nowadays, the 5G network by Verizon needs an additional charge of US$ 10 or IDR. 140.000 for each month for previously provided unlimited package and compatible devices. Meanwhile, 5G network by AT&T will require AT&T portable hotspot device with the price US$ 500 or IDR 7 million for Nighthawk and an additional US$ 70 or IDR 980.000 each month for a package that equipped by 15 GB data; now available only for AT&T users and business accounts.
