Zao application has recently been suspected of stealing personal privacy data. The application that was viral in China uses deep fake technology, which makes it possible to make someone’s video clip based on just one picture of their face.
Has Security Risk, Zao is (Still) Over The Top
Quoted from the page of The Week, Wednesday (04/09/2019) this application was released on August 30, 2019, and quickly reached the top of the free app ranking on the iOS App Store China.
The company insists the image will only be used for marketing purposes. Zao was published by Momo Inc., which was previously condemned in December 2018 due to a package contained a telephone number and account password.
On Monday, WeChat’s messenger chat blocked content shared by this app over “security risks” and widespread user backlash, TechNode reported.
A statement posted on the Chinese social networking site, Weibo by the Zao application said: “We truly understand people’s anxiety about privacy issues.”
